How our shop was born
Kristel Treier started this venture in 2013, after a career in the worlds of finance and media.
One of Kristel's passions has been travelling to different parts of the world – Indonesia, Southeast Asia, South and North America, Africa and Europe.
In all these places she has admired the local culture, colours, flavours and scents, and wished she could share this touch of the world with everyone in Estonia.
At the same time, the wish grew to give something back to the simple people in distant villages who always welcomed travellers warmly and were always ready to help.
That is how the idea was born to bring different things to Estonia – local handicrafts that are sometimes the only source of income for a small village.
The exotic things from around the world that found their way into this online shop are natural in their ingredients and character, and good for your health. They always carry a message for the soul and the mind. For example, candles made of 100% organic stearin wax and scented with natural essential oils are irreplaceable in my own home.
Everything in this shop was first tested by Kristel herself and by her relatives and friends :)
What is happening today
Today the world is closer to us than ever before, and some things simply change over time. By the end of 2024, Kristel's time was fully taken up by personal development trainings, women's retreats in Bali, Greece and Morocco, and the annual Women's Wellbeing Festival.
So the decision was made to close the online shop.
But when autumn came, a longing for good candles began to stir in her heart, and the mailbox filled with questions from loyal customers asking whether there would be no candles this year...
Signe Timmermann came to help. Besides a shared childhood, Kristel and Signe are connected by a passion for travel, a love of candlelight and a healthy outlook on life.
Signe has a special gift for bringing good ideas to life and keeping all the practical details running, as well as the skill to build the technical solutions that websites and social media need today. Most of the time Signe works as a tour guide and travel companion, introducing people to different parts of the world, and in Põlvamaa she weaves the patterns of the world into micro-macramé jewellery.
Open again
In November 2025, Kristel and Signe reopened the online shop together – to bring a touch of light into the darkest time of the year, good for both mind and body.
Our candle series are chosen from different parts of the world, and each of them has its own story. Made from natural materials, with essential oils, herbs or gemstones, they change our mood and lift us above the grey everyday.
Many of the candles are made by small women's communities in Indonesia and India, for whom this is the only source of income.
The principles of fair trade are as important to us as recycling and protecting nature – and, of course, our own everyday health.
In December you will find our full candle selection in Tallinn, at our pop-up shop in Kristiine Shopping Centre next to the Apollo bookshop.
